Sergio Mendez was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985 and has more than 30 years of experience. He practiced with his late father for 15 years. Though his practice is limited to Guardianship, Probate and Real Property Law, has handled hundreds of cases across the spectrum of civil litigation. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is President at the Law Offices Mendez & Mendez.
Sergio graduated from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. He served as President of the Cuban American Bar Association in 1999 and on its Board of Directors for fifteen years. He has been licensed for over ten years by the U.S. Department of Treasury - Office of Foreign Assets Control, as one of eight attorneys licensed to handle cuban asset control regulations. He travels frequently to Cuba to represent Cuban heirs in U.S. Probate proceedings. He has also served as a professor at Florida International University teaching Wills, Trusts and Estates.
Sergio has served on the Board of Directors for the Guardianship Program of Miami-Dade County since 2003 and served as its President from 2006-2008. GPDC is the Public Guardian for Elderly, Indigent, Incapacitated Persons in Miami-Dade County. Sergio also served on the Judicial Nominating Commission 11th Judicial Circuit, by appointment of Florida Bar Board of Governors from 2000-2004 and was the Co-Chairperson in 2003-04. He has published various legal articles concerning Mortgage Foreclosures, the Cuban Assets Control Regulations and Probate Litigation.
Daniel is a third generation attorney who joined the firm in 2014. Daniel concentrates his practice on estate planning, probate and guardianship administration and litigation, and civil litigation. Prior to joining the firm as an attorney, Daniel worked as a law clerk for several years and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Maria Korvick, the administrative judge in the Probate Division for Miami-Dade County. Daniel graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School before attending the University of Florida where he received his undergraduate degree. He went on to attend law school at St. Thomas University where he graduated with honors.
